Happy Wednesday, SOAR Superstars! COVID continues to cause delays and disruption for SOAR processing but SSA and DDS are stepping in to help expedite processes. SSA and DDS are still closed to the public but both agencies are processing cases remotely. As a result you may notice delays in communication with DDS analysts, as many of them are only in the office once a week and are returning calls during that time.
Consultative Exams
DDS Consultative Exams (CE's) are still postponed until further notice. Please let your client's know that this will result in case processing delays for individuals who need additional supportive medical evidence for their claim. You can bypass this wait by (1) obtaining alternative evaluation through CSB's, private providers, or utilizing recent hospital/crisis records. The only exception to this CE delay is for individuals who need an updated Mental Status Exam (MSE). DDS will let you know if your claimant falls into this category by sending you a request for video medical evaluation.
Updated SSA Fax Numbers
As many of you know, SSA switched to a new fax process to assist their workers in continuing to process claims while their analysts are working remotely. I will provide the updated contact information below. Please ensure that you have updated the fax numbers and are using these new fax lines to send requests for case information (SSA-3288/Consent Forms) and case information, when requested. Failure to do so will result in timely delays for your cases. I have attached the updated Consent for Release of Information form, to be faxed in conjunction with the SSA-3288, when requesting case information. Please make sure you save and update your files with this new form. Below are the updated fax numbers for your Regional Reps, as well as for your Local Offices.
