PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION: At Your Fingertips
SOAR Certification equips professionals to secure Social Security benefits for highly vulnerable individuals with unmatched efficiency. Through unique partnerships with the Social Security Administration and specialized SOAR processing units with Disability Determination, certified practitioners achieve faster decisions and significantly higher approval rates. SOAR training and certification ensure that highly vulnerable populations gain timely access to the income and healthcare they need to stabilize and recover.
Virginia SOAR Certification
The Virginia SOAR Certification program provides certification for social workers, case managers, peer providers, and other homeless services/justice system workers through a two-step process.

Participants must complete either the free, 20-hour online SOAR training or an approved SOAR Cohort Training.

Candidates are required to attend a one-day, in-person course review and certification session. ​​
Maintaining SOAR Certification
To remain certified, SOAR workers are required to:

Complete a minimum of two applications annually

Participate in bi-monthly regional SOAR meetings

Report outcomes through a DBHDS-designate reporting system

Adhere to the established professional Code of Conduct
