Virginia SOAR Certification

The Virginia SOAR Certification program certifies social workers, case managers, and peer providers through a two-part process:

  1. Workers must first complete the free, online 20-hour SOAR training or attend an approved SOAR Cohort Training

  2. After completing the online training, potential SOAR workers must attend a one day, in person course review and certification session

Maintaining SOAR Certification

Certified SOAR workers can maintain their certification by:

  1. Completing at least 2 applications every year

  2. Attending quarterly regional SOAR meetings

  3. Registering and reporting outcomes through OAT (online application tracking) system

  4. Maintaining a professional Code of Conduct
